Road To Kathmandu (1975)

Remastered documentary from 1975 following Mike Deamon (tour guide and former London mining investment consultant) and several other adventurers on a planned overland trip in a 12-ton truck from the United Kingdom to Nepal.

Also along are Suzie Williams a photographer from New Zealand, Tanya Gupta the group secretary, Paul Travis a student from Canada, Ivan Trac a lifeguard from Australia, Peter a Dutch carpenter, a couple of London cockneys named Paul and Jim, Miriam Kantor, cinematographers David and Annie South, etc. Narrated by Paul Hardy.

The film begins in the ancient cradle of Byzantium and Constantinople, Istanbul, Turkey and then on to the Christian stronghold of Cappadocia. Marco Polo once roamed this route from Mount Ararat in Mesopotamia, but the Kurdish people were established there 1,000 years before him. They visit “Throne of Jamshid” in Persepolis where Persian King Darius the Mede and his son Xerxes visited around 500 BCE.

The release date of the film alternatively will show as either 1975 or 1977.
